One of Us is Lying (spoiler free). Another Booktok recommendation! When I read the synopsis, it felt like a mix between Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars, two shows I watched during my middle school years. Full of nostalgia, and legit curious, I jumped on the occasion and ran into the first bookshop I found to buy it. The seller, adorable as he is, gave me a free copy of One of Us is Next, which is supposed to be the sequel (I'll talk about it more later on this review). That copy was not published yet, and was the free copy editors give sellers and journalists so they can give a review. The shop still had a copy left, and the seller kindly proposed to give it to me! I said yes, especially since the second one was supposed to be published weeks later, on april, saving me from spending almost 18 euros.  Back to the main topic : One of Us is Lying, a spoiler free review. The story. Bronwyn, Cooper, Nate, Addy and Simon. Five very different students who get detention at the sa...

The Chosen Ones 1 (spoiler free). The Chosen Ones by Veronica Roth was highly recommended on Booktok. Tempted at first, I purchased it because I was annoyed at just how many people recommended it.  I had already read the Divergent series by Veronica Roth, so I did not mind discovering her new work anyways, especially when I learned it was targeted for a more mature audience. I always find it nice when authors (and artists) grow with their fans.  So I went to the first bookshop that had it and started to read it. What is it about? One day, a mysterious, dangerous and magical enemy, the Dark One, appeared, destroying everything and killing many. A clandestine government agency searches eagerly for someone to fight against the monster. That someone became a group of five teenagers, Sloane, Matt, Albie, Ines and Esther. Together, after long fights and terrifying nights, they succeeded. The war is over.  Ten years later, we find the Chosen Ones as adults. Sloane and Matt...

Red Queen 1 (spoiler free) I love scrolling on Tiktok. Once I noticed videos posted on Instagram were actually repost of Titkok videos, I thought it would be fair to give Tiktok a chance. And it was a good decision. I stumbled across Booktok, or the "book side of Tiktok". Few things I noticed is just how much YA is read! And not only by teenagers. It made me feel less guilty to read those kind of books, haha. So YA is popular on Booktok and especially fantasy. The same series got recommended over and over and over again, which made me take the decision to take a shot at them. The first one I chose to go with is Red Queen, mostly because the author is on the app. Little secret : I have the Six of Crows duology but I never finished the first volume 😕 Little introduction : Red Queen is a series written by Victoria Aveyard. The story is set in a world divided into red bloods, the normal humans who are treated like less than nothing, and silver bloods, who have magical powers, a...
